Linden Farrer said… Hi Nora,
I am currently involved in dissemination and communication of FAMILYPLATFORM a social platform involving stakeholders in a critical review of existing research, forecasting future challenges facing families, and developing a research agenda on the family for the EC. It's now nearing an end, and the research agenda is close to being published. I'm of course free to share my experiences if they're useful.
Merci Nora!
Sharing Economy and Collaborative Consumption are really promising indeed. Fantastic innovation is happening right now and more sustainable lifestyles are emerging... Would love to share ideas and thoughts in groups and discuss further.
Best,
Antonin
Thank you Nora,
So good to meet you in Milan!
Cheers, Tuuli
Wiebke Herding said… Hi Nora -
thanks for checking in. I had seen the invitation, but wasn't entirely sure whether my participation would be worthwhile. Will you have actual visions & policy proposals to discuss? What would you like to see as a result of the event? What has happened since the launch of the initiative in May?
All the best * Wiebke
Nora Brüggemann said… Hi Wiebke,
if you are interested in joining, that your participation is of course worthwhile! I guess, you will have a lot to contribute from the Familyplatform - I have recently checked your policy brief! Well done. This event will be an input workshop into our process, and help inform our policy brief. This is were we hope to get more insights and support. Additionally, we aim to involve more of the Brussels community, and to inform about what we are doing. Our scenario creation is happening now, the backcasting will take place end of November. So a very busy time for our project. In a few weeks, end of October, we will also publish our baseline report on sustainable lifestyles, which bases on the launch event and a lot more literature research since.
Let me know if you are interested to join. Would be great to learn more from you. Best, Nora
Jean Philippe Cornelis said… Dear Nora Brüggemann,
Thank you for your invitation on 10 november in Brussels that I will attend with great interest.
Working since the second oil-shock on 1979 on sustainable development and promoting solar energy, we then started to invent with architects solar ans passive houses, we visited Tvind and the first windmills and promoted biogaz and today, as sometimes lonely pioneers at that time, we have the immense pleasure to see that we were right in doing so.
But our concern today is that , expecially with the demographic explosion, we have to find out good solutions but much faster than we do today.
As an anthropologist specialezed in the field of human behaviour and creativity, I believe that the human being has enough genius to solve those problems, provided you give him time AND STRENGTH OF PERSUASION.
As we are inbedded in a time of very hedonistic life styles, people, just like Freud said, prefer sometimes the principle of pleasure to the principle of reality, and that's were we have persuade them to be responsible.
So my solution is a trinomial one where we must foster the three solutions:
Convince all the citizens to diminish their footprint on a volontary base.
Put real efficient coercion on the Kyoto, Cancun, Durban and other world
rules.
Foster the human genius through his creativity to find still more efficient techniques to capture and store solar energy, where we are doing amazing discoveries the last months (As you know probably, solar energy is providing us with 8.000 times more energy than all what we consume today, but we are very unefficient to capture and store that energy, and so there also we have very bigg margings of progress.
It shall be a pleasure for me to meet you and Cheryl Hicks and others at this conference and hope to build there other possibilies of collaboration for this most ENTHUSIASTIC CHALLENGE.
With my best regards and see you soon.

Sorry for not replying earlier. I was not active on SPREAD50 network, but I'm planning to change that now. First of all, compliments for great project! I see that you are organizing a lot of events - I would definitely like to participate in some of them, and to be involved in the project. My field of expertise are corporate social responsibility, responsible market and trade of agricultural and forest products, and ethical finance. Particularly I am interested in all aspects of connecting business with sustainability. I think this could fit in the Consuming Working Group. Please let me me know how I can be involved.
You can also contact me by email: dragana.stojkovic@gmail.com
