The interest in locally produced milk (0 miles) has grown in Italy in the last 10 years.  In the picture you can have a look at the milk distributor where people can go with their own bottle and buy milk, from a minimum quantity of 200 ml. In this way, a win-win strategy is fostered:

-less need for transport on long distances (the milk is collected from local and usually organic producers)

-higher income for the producer

-fresh product available also in small quantities

-no waste of product, because what has left at the end of the day is processed into fresh cheese

This process has started as a private initiative of some producers, who invested in the distribution equipment in order to get an higher income for their milk.

The final conference of SPREAD Sustainable Lifestyles 2050 will be held on November 26-27 2012 in Brussels.

The findings of the SPREAD 2050 project will be showcased and discussed during the two day conference. It is a possibility to hear the first hand results of the SPREAD 2050 project. Emphasis is on how the findings can be turned into action.
